Hi, I’m Priya!
Also, known as Miss Kara Geography
I’m a full-time Geography tutor, qualified teacher and study skills coach.
A North-West Londoner, Geography specialist, and proof that you can work hard, struggle, and still succeed
(no tectonic shifts required… just the right support).
School wasn’t always easy for me. I was motivated, revised for hours, and genuinely cared, yet my results didn’t always reflect the effort I was putting in. It was frustrating, exhausting, and at times made me question myself.
I know that feeling, and I want every student who works with me to know this: you are not alone — I get it, and I’m with you every step of the way.
That journey shaped everything I do now.
I went on to complete a Geography degree, a PGCE, and a Master’s in Education and International Development, and spent over 15 years in schools as a Head of Humanities, Curriculum Leader for Geography, EPQ Coordinator, and Specialist Leader of Education, teaching both UK and international specifications.
But what truly drives me is this: too many students are never taught how to learn.
Study skills are often missing, inconsistent, or left to chance, so students are expected to “figure it out” on their own. I had to do that myself, and I don’t believe today’s learners should have to.
Since leaving the classroom in 2019, my vision has been simple: to teach Geography and the study skills that make learning feel manageable, purposeful, and achievable.
I help students feel calmer, more confident, and in control of their learning, not overwhelmed by it.
I’m also a bit of a Geography cliché in the best way — a nomad teacher. I spend part of the academic year immersing myself in different places, turning real experiences into meaningful case studies (ask me about my favourite destinations — I might struggle to choose).
Above all, I’m warm, supportive, and I listen to students and parents.
Learning is a journey, and sometimes the path feels steep. My job is to walk it with you, map in hand, showing you that you can get there.
My Approach
Geography often feels overwhelming — too much content, unfamiliar case studies, and confusion over what exam questions are really asking.
I help students LEARN by breaking topics down clearly, building strong foundations, and teaching effective study skills so understanding replaces frustration.
Many students work hard but revise in ways that don’t move them forward. This leads to self-doubt and stress.
I help students EVOLVE their approach to learning Geography, refining revision strategies, strengthening exam technique, and developing confidence and independence.
When understanding and confidence come together, results rise.
I help students ELEVATE their Geography by thinking like geographers, using real-world examples effectively, and approaching exams with clarity and calm. This is where effort finally turns into achievement.
